Although as we know the most traditional wedding colour is white, this doesn’t mean that there aren’t plenty of other opportunities and ways that you can incorporate a bit more colour into your wedding. Whether this is through invitations, bridesmaids dresses, decoration, flowers or theming of the after party, there are so many ways that you can bring different colours into your wedding day and create your own theme.
When planning a wedding, the best thing to do is experiment with new ideas, and bring visions to life so that you can really get a feel of how you want your wedding to be. Quite a big decision here, is choosing the perfect colours to bring your special day to life. There are endless choices of different colours to choose from, it’s all about how you feel.
Here are a few of our favourite colours and themes used at weddings!
Mint green is actually a pretty popular colour used at weddings. This is because it’s quite a delicate and subtle colour, and is very compatible and complementary alongside a majority white theme. We find that mint green is often intertwined within the colour scheme of a wedding through design of the bridesmaids dresses and accessories. It is quite a relaxed colour that symbolises harmony and positive energy, therefore making it the perfect choice of colour scheme for your wedding.
Another subtle but pretty colour we love to see at weddings is baby blue. Blue translates peace and tranquility, so when used in your colour scheme can create a really relaxed and peaceful atmosphere for the day. As well as that, baby blue often signifies depth and stability, which is a beautiful way to celebrate the joining together of two people on your wedding day and highlight this momentous part of your journey with one another. It is a very calming colour and translates a sense of trust and loyalty, which is what your wedding day vows are all about!
You will often find this colour amongst the bridesmaids at a wedding. It is another very popular choice of colour that people like to have at their wedding, as it is very ladylike and gentle. It gives an element of confidence and class, which may be exactly what you’re looking to create at your wedding. If you have quite a classy theme, lilac is without doubt one of the best colours to incorporate throughout as not only is it beautiful, but it symbolises a lot of power and sophistication.
Although pink can often be associated with being more of a feminine colour, it is a beautiful colour to have throughout any wedding. Whether this is used in the design of bridesmaid dresses, usher ties, chairs, flowers; it doesn’t matter. It’s quite a neutral sort of colour but one that symbolises love and perfection – the perfect choice for a wedding! Furthermore, with coral comes a feeling of happiness and immortality, which is basically a sense of eternal life, togetherness and long-lasting love and commitment.
Navy is much more of a bold and powerful colour to have at a wedding, especially with the contrast against an otherwise predominantly white theme. However, as a colour, navy translates power and confidence, and symbolises stability and unity. Weddings are all about the joining together of two people as well as two families, and so unity is incredibly important on this day and the use of navy within the colour scheme is a great way to signify this.
